Halloween 2016

We had a great Halloween this year. The Saturday before Halloween we went to a party of one of the families on our soccer team. The hosts provided pumpkins and carving materials, which is a parents dream: no pumpkin mess at our house! They also had an awesome hay pyramid with a secret chamber in the middle. Josh could care less about the secret room: he loved climbing those hay bales!
The party was on one of the few sunny weekend days in October. It was a beautiful day!
Josh decided he wanted his pumpkin to look like a cat, so with the help of Pinterest I drew the face, and then Ben masterfully carved it.
Seth, their friend Will and Sam taking the guts out of the pumpkins.
We let Sam and Seth do it all themselves this year: from the face drawing to the carving
 They did an excellent job!

Halloween costumes this year included two knights and a monkey. We were able to use the costumes my mom sewed the boys for Christmas this year and accessorize with knight helmets. They looked so handsome and the costumes sparkled under the street lights as we were walking through the neighborhoods! Josh was the cutest and silliest monkey around! He wasn't shy at all about trick-or-treating and marched right up to all the doors; at one house he even went inside to get the candy bowl when he felt like the people weren't handing the candy out quick enough. That rascal!
We trick-or-treated with our neighbors after a group pizza dinner first. It was so fun and we were grateful for them letting us crash their Halloween routine of trick-or-treating in their old neighborhood! (Joel, Matthew, and Samantha Declerque included in the picture)
First stop was to our neighbors, Chris and Jackie. They had their house all decorated for the kids and Jackie was even dressed-up. It was so sweet!
