Christmas Tree Time

Having young children at Christmas time really does make everything magical. They are excited about EVERYTHING. They actually remember to do the countdown each day. Their eyes widen as you tell them, “We’re gonna go get our tree today!” They anticipate it, and are thrilled with the result. Thanks Seth and Sam for making our Christmas preparations so magical.IMG_3464 No tradition of traipsing out and cutting down our own tree. Nope. Our tradition includes a $15 dollar steal of deal at a small lot off the TV Highway (actually we’ve regretfully graduated to the $30 nobles because they are always the tallest).  Tree selection took about 5 minutes. That’s our kind of tree shopping!

Putting on ornaments is very nostalgic for me. I remember clearly how my mom was the “ornament getter outter” and Katie, Dad, and I would put them on. Now I get the ornaments out for the boys to put on. Ben and I now have all our ornaments that we had as children, and our children put them on our tree. We also have bought an ornament on all our major travels; decorating the tree is like a huge trip down memory lane. I love it. (Sam’s in stripes, Seth in yellow)

I made Ben do a photo shoot of me and the boys once we were all done. IMG_3480x

I love the lighting of this one. In the background I can see ornaments from our honeymoon (Virgin Gorda), Turkey, Venice, Salzburg—as well as Ben’s baby ornament, and an ornament I inherited from Grandma Minnie. LOVE IT!

These are definitely some of the best ever pictures of me and the boys!

We ended the fun evening by giving the boys a couple new Christmas books. I’m a sucker for Christmas books and when Costco had books by Jan Brett and Nancy Tillman, I couldn’t resist buying them. What a better way to finish the night than by reading The Night Before Christmas.
