Canada Road Trip Part 2

Part 2 of our road trip was actually just taking a ferry back over to Washington and then down to Great Wolf Lodge. Somehow we managed to pick just about the worst (and longest route) that enabled us to be driving through the Seattle area during rush hour traffic. Definitely poor planning by Ben and I. The ferry ride, however, was beautiful as it wove through the Pudget Sound Islands on a clear, calm, and sunny day.
There was also a table with a puzzle for our family to work on, which was great fun. We're totally into puzzles as a family right now.
The kids were all so anxious and excited to arrive at Great Wolf Lodge. The anticipation was all the more greater because they now knew what to expect and couldn't wait to hop on those water slides! Thankfully we arrived with a couple hours left in the evening to swim.
This trip Seth and Sam were old enough to go down the "Howling Tornado" slide, so that was one of  the first things that they did with Ben. However, no one told us that the slide would be absolutely terrifying at night, because the "drum" that the tube slides into is pitch black when it is dark outside. They weren't big fans. But, the next morning Ben talked them into trying it again with me during daylight and they had a much funner time. We were very proud of them for their courage to try again and their adventurous spirits.
Joshy had a blast at Great Wolf Lodge as well. It was nice having him be a bit older than last time. He didn't fuss about having a life jacket on and didn't insist in sitting in the hot tub the whole time. I have a top "embarrassing story" from Josh: he was the only one using a kiddie slide until a little boy about his age crawled up to the top. The poor little boy was clearly afraid to go down, so Josh passed him and went down before him. When he got to the bottom, I encouraged Josh to tell the boy, "You can do it! It's fun." Josh interpretation of that: I'll help the boy by pushing him down the slide! Yep, this petrified little boy got pushed down the slide by Josh. I was so embarrassed and apologized over and over again to the mom, and I made Josh apologize. The mom was very gracious, but kept a pretty wide berth from us the rest of time. I would have too! What a bully!

Great Wolf Lodge really is such a neat place
I love these pictures of Ben and Josh together
I refuse to get blasted by the "bucket that dumps," but Ben and the twins are brave enough
I tried to draw an arrow on the picture (it's white) to show where they are
This is a much safer place to handle the bucket dump. It only lightly sprays you. Josh loved watching it from this spot and spent a lot of time here

We really like Great Wolf Lodge, but I tell you what: by about 2 o'clock the next day, we were all ready to go. Our eyes hurt from all the chlorine and we were all exhausted!
We don't know when we'll be able to return again, but we sure do have some special memories in this place!
