Our last day at Disneyland was an all California Adventure day. We didn't fly out until 7 pm that evening, so we had a pretty good chunk of the day to make sure to experience all of the park!
Due to our typical morning slowness paired with the extra chaos of packing up our room, we didn't arrive at the park until a bit after opening. So, by the time we got into the fast pass ticket line for Radiator Springs, our time wasn't until 2:45. We knew this would be pushing it with getting back to the hotel in time for our shuttle, so we decided to just slog out the regular line at a 45 minute wait time. Ben took Josh on a couple little kids rides while my parents and I took the big boys, and then Ben returned to the ride with the big boys with the stroller pass. That stroller pass system was amazing: the twins always got to ride the big rides twice in a row! We all really enjoyed the Cars Ride, however, I think that general atmosphere of Cars Land was even better! We loved the whole area and even ate lunch at Flo's Diner (which had great gluten free choices, btw).

Dad and Mom got Josh a Mickey Mouse car that he enjoyed playing with during wait times.
We loved eating at Flo's Diner!
Another great memory from this day was Seth and Sam deciding that they wanted to try California Screamin' with Ben and I. It was a blast standing in line and anticipated their first "real" (as in 55 mph and upside down) roller coaster. They both LOVED it, and wanted to get right back in line to try it again. While we didn't do that, they did go again later in the afternoon with Ben and my mom. (We're super excited to have a couple roller-coast-lovin' boys in the house and are already planning future amusement park trips!)
Meanwhile, Josh requested to ride the "seal" carousel again (sea creatures), and browsed some shops with Dad and I. He snuggled a Mickey Mouse stuffed animal while wearing the ever present Donald Ducky hat and enormous sunglasses.
We loved the more laid back and less crowded atmosphere of California Adventure. It's such a neat park. Things we just had to do before leaving the park: take a picture in front of the roller coaster and famous Ferris wheel, sample Ghiradelli chocolate ice cream, go on "Little Mermaid" one more time, and ride "Soaring Over California" one last time.
We're so thankful for Mom and Dad taking us on this trip and for the memories made!
Before leaving for the airport we made sure to take a couple pictures on the grounds of the Disneyland Hotel where we stayed. We loved all the details, like these sculpted bushes.
Here was our tower!
As we were waiting for the shuttle, Goofy showed up again. The boys were excited to get his autograph as they forgot to last time.
And just like that, our three nights, four days in Disneyland were over. We shuttled to the airport in LA traffic, almost had a kid pee their pants in the TESA line, tried to contain the kids in the airport as they were exhausted and squirrely, and settled down for our 7:45 pm departure to Portland. We didn't get home until almost 11, and you guessed it: Josh didn't fall asleep until 10 minutes from home. That stinker. But honestly, the kid did awesome, he really, really did. We look forward to a lot more travel in the future!
We put the twins in seats together on the way home and they talked the whole time. We've noticed this about them: if we have been busy, or around a lot people for several days, they like to have time to reconnect just the two of them. They were amazing travelers and we were even complimented by a gentlemen after getting off the plane, who told us that it was "wonderful to experience the flight through the eyes (and words) of our children...they were delightful." Seriously couldn't have been a better ending to a wonderful trip!
