Joshua: 7 Months

I just read over last month’s update on Josh. Goodness! With babies a lot can happen in one month!

-Josh cut his first tooth! He was a bit fussy with it, but no ear infection and not a lot of lost sleep.

-We finally weaned off that darn swaddle. Victory! We love all his new sleep positions off the swaddle.

-He started eating sweet potatoes, squash and applesauce.

-I cut down to four big bottles a day. He drinks about 24 ounces of (still) pumped breast milk. He’s drinking less milk now thanks to the solids, which has allowed me to cut down to four pumps a day. It’s been much more manageable, and I’m not having to supplement with formula at all.

-Some days he’ll nap 2-3 hours for his first two naps, and then will cut out his evening nap. I’ll take it!

-We’re amazed at his ability to control his arms and grab objects. I’m having to keep watch a bit more, but he’s still a ways away from being mobile.

-I left him in the nursery at church for the first time on Sunday. He did wonderful and seems to be doing a bit better going to other people without crying.

-He loves playing in the bath.

-He’s HATED grass each time I’ve set him in it, and screamed until I’ve picked him up. Maybe this will continue through the summer and I can place him on a blanket in the middle of the yard and not worry about him causing mischief elsewhere (I can dream, right?)

-I heard him laugh more than he ever has last night. Seth and Sam were jumping and he thought that was the funniest thing. He laughed and squealed over and over again. He adores his big brothers and they are so good with him!

-We had a check-up appointment today with the cleft palate clinic at OHSU. Everything is looking good and we’re on track to have his cleft fixed when he’s one year old. We’re so thankful that it’s just a minor  cleft!

-He weighed 15 pounds 10 ounces today, 10 ounces more than at his pediatric appointment about three weeks ago. That’s pretty good weight gain! At the pediatric appointment, he was in the 65% for height and 9% for weight. Tall and skinny, like his daddy!

This is the sweetest picture of him! He’s smiling at Seth and Sam jumping.IMG_6691x

I took these next pictures after Josh’s bath yesterday. I love his crazy tuft of hair and chubby little body.

Here’s one of his crazy sleeping position. He has an obsession with putting his face in the bumper.IMG_6651

Here’s Josh’s favorite chewing toy: the exersaucer apple leaf. He loves sucking on it.IMG_6660x

Oh sweet, sweet Joshua, stop growing so fast! We love you so much!
